Here, the authors examine this concept, as well as the directives issued by the educational hierarchy and the urgent calls for new methods expressed by “novices.” By studying teachers’ activities and exploring the complexity of their actions, the authors were able to conduct a detailed analysis of their practices across four disciplines: physical education, reading and spelling instruction, and geography.

This book is the result of a symposium held in Toulouse in September 2017.
