Effective Practices in Analytical Reading in Secondary Schools in France and Belgium

  • A national research project initiated by Sylviane Ahr, a professor at Jean Jaurès University (Toulouse), and led by Sylviane Ahr and Isabelle de Peretti (University of Artois).
  • In partnership with numerous research centers, including Ema and CRTF (Cergy-Pontoise), Textes et cultures (Arras), Litextra (Stendhal University, Grenoble), LLA Creatis (Jean Jaurès University, Toulouse), Crépidis, UCL (Louvain-la-Neuve), and ALFA LIRDEF (Montpellier).
  • 13 researchers involved in France and Belgium.
  • The protocol will first focus on analyzing situations involving the teaching and learning of literature, as well as the selection of literary texts and teaching tools. This protocol aims to vary the research settings from both a geographical and sociological perspective.

Objectives

• Analyze the effects of teaching practices on student learning
• Identify the conceptions of literature and its teaching upon which these practices are based
• Identify areas where literature teaching practices can be transformed in order to adapt them to the culture and society of our time
• Identify the points of discontinuity between the two cycles of secondary school in order to ensure continuity in learning.
