TALC

TALC (Text to Class)

The TALC project is an exploratory research project conceived from the perspective of descriptive and comprehensive research into the actual practices of Cycle 3 teachers (CM and 6e) in literature classes (literary reading sessions), at a time when the programs that came into force in 2016 confer on literature "personal training" stakes that exceed the literary training stakes traditionally associated with the discipline. Data will be collected through filmed sessions, self-confrontation interviews and cross-interviews. The methodological originality of the project lies in the fact that the choice of the work to be read will be imposed on the teachers, while the didactic approach will be left entirely to the teacher's choice. Essentially, the aim is to build a multi-referenced framework for analysis: didactic analysis, language analysis of student interactions, analysis of teachers' professional gestures, combining the scientific expertise of the LIRDEF researchers involved in the project.

Objectives

  • Observe actual practices in a small number of classes, using different literary genres: poetry, drama, novels, short stories, comics, etc.
  • Develop specific thinking on these problematic genres at Cycle 3 level.
  • Discuss the question of the value of the work in a school context.
  • Analyze the effects of teaching practices on student learning.
  • Observe how the tension between literary and personal development issues is taken into account by teachers.
  • Experiment with a multi-framework data collection and analysis system that combines didactic analysis, language analysis, analysis of professional gestures and activity analysis to open up new research perspectives.
