SPD Seminar on February 12, 2021

The reading seminar for the “Knowledge, Practices, and Pedagogy” track, originally scheduled for January 15, will now take place on Friday, February 12, and may include a presentation by a doctoral student on their research (we are calling on doctoral students and their advisors: please let us know if you would like to present on that date).

The seminar will feature a discussion of an article by Alain Muller and Valérie Lussi-Borer published in 2018 in*Recherches et Formation*: “How to address teaching standards within the framework of a collaborative inquiry? Toward taking practical rationality into account .” In connection with the theme of the research area“Between knowledge and practice: questioning the objects of teaching and learning,” Muller and Lussi-Borer’s text will lead us to explore the central idea in the article that norms, goals, and rules are inherent in practices. This will allow us to contrast this perspective with that of JF Halté, for whom“values are not objects of teaching”(linked document).
